Giving Tuesday-ONE SIMPLE WISH

In this season of giving, we have teamed up with One Simple Wish to add some magic to this holiday for foster children through our Clairebella Give Hope Campaign. Our goal is to give $10,000 worth of gifts and wishes to children in foster care through One Simple Wish. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider granting both big and small wishes of foster children this holiday season. Visit our Giving Page for One Simple Wish to see the Christmas wishes.

  1. Get your family involved by letting each child pick out a wish on our giving page and share how this gift will make another child’s Christmas so special.
  2. Hosting a holiday party? In lieu of hostess gifts, suggest that guests make a donation to OSW or grant a specific wish.
  3. In place of a tangible gift for someone, give a wish in honor of them to one of the foster children.
  4. Take your giving up a notch by getting a group involved…scouts, church group, book club, etc.

Thank you so much for contributing as we work together to make these children’s world a little brighter!

Mini Holiday Home Tour

I am a little late to the game, but today I am sharing a mini holiday home tour. It really is just a sneak peek at some festive spots in our house. Our house is on the market, and we are going to start packing after Christmas, so I didn’t put out the usual amount of holiday decor. We are buying a fixer upper on 7 acres and we are bursting-at-the-seams excited about it! I can’t wait to share that project once we get started. On to our current house…

Below is my favorite area in our house. I love having my morning coffee in this little nook by the big window. blog1

Each year I hang the garland around this window and display the Christmas cards we receive on it. I love fresh garland, but it does tend to get messy. Since we are selling the house, I opted for the cleaner option…faux garland from Michaels. The faux varieties are better than ever, and this one looked fairly real, with the added leaves and pine cones. I added the lime polka dot ribbon to bring in some fun color. Earlier this year, I sprayed painted my galvanized letters a nice bronze color. I love the way these turned out and they look great on the gray wall.

Hubby okayed me bringing in a little pink to our holiday decor this year. I wanted to add a fun touch to this mirror and am happy with the way it turned out.

I use high quality ribbons, like the above linen ribbon from Joann’s. With the wired edge ribbons, you can use them again and again, since they are so easy to reshape.

I love the stockings from Ballard Designs. I have had them for years and they are still available on their website.

I added the polka dot ribbon bows to the tree in green and also navy.

I like to think I am getting better at tackling all of the holiday stuff each year. Although this year, I still haven’t ordered Christmas cards. We may send New Year’s cards or an email blast, that’s to be determined. But I am not worried about it. I really want to focus on spending time with my family and loved ones and the other stuff will fall into place in some fashion.

Fall Porch Inspiration

fall trio

I love fall. I mean, I. Really. Love. Fall. The chill in the air. The colors. The yummy, scented candles. The pumpkin flavored everything. I wish that fall lasted longer and the holiday season didn’t start November 1st. Today, I am sharing photos of my fall porch (above) and other porch (or front step) decor to inspire you. The cornstalks are the focal point and have big impact. I get them at my local nursery. I bought the heirloom (cinderella) pumpkins at Walmart this year. They are only $2.97 each, which is a bargain compared to most places.

I like how simple and clean this step is above. The pumpkins look great inside the potted plants.

The hydrangeas paired with the ghost pumpkins is so eye-catching.

The door and painted floor is charming. Everything else is just a bonus. Below is a tutorial for a white pumpkin wreath that I found and am sharing.

I hope you enjoy fall and all it’s pumpkin flavored mania!

New Year’s Eve Photo Props

Photo props are all the rage now and can add a lot of fun to party photos. I have created free printables and easy instructions below.

  • New Year’s Eve Printables (available here)
  • White Card-stock paper
  • Glue
  • Glitter (I used black, gold and red)
  • Craft sticks (available at your local craft store)

1. Download and print the printables either on your home computer or at your local printer. I purposely didn’t use a lot of black to save on ink.

2. Glue one item and one color only and then add glitter. This is to insure you don’t mix glitter colors

glue3 3. Cut out each prop carefully and glue on desired craft stick.

That was easy! Have a blessed New Year!
